Creative Descriptive Title:
Tracking a wolf
Purpose (why you are teaching this particular unit):
Learn wolf range, geology/geography of the land, wolf behavior and habitat
Overview of Content:
Students will be able to explain wolf pack behavior and movement within their area. Explain habitat as taken from the maps.
Estimated Time Commitment:
5 class periods (45 min. each)
Learner Expectations (Desired Results):
Student will be able to:
Read a topo/forest service map with its symbols, sections, quadrants
Track a wolf according to the website information
Discuss wolf habitat/food web/predidation
Activities and Procedures:
Students will gather information regarding wolf packs from the website and library research. They will print out activity from one particular wolf from the MN area packs. They will plot the past ½ year movement of this wolf on their map

Closure-Tying it all together with real-world application:
Why do we need to know about wolves, where they are? The students will explain/write about why this wolf (and presumably its pack) is moving - food….social behavior…Eventually will tie into wolf reintroduction/Yellowstone project (we started last year).
