The Myth of Turtle Island
There was once a young turtle named Trevor that lived on a beautiful sandy beach. He enjoyed his life on this beach with his family. He would sunbathe, swim, eat yummy plants, and play with his brothers and sisters. One day the wind started blowing very hard and the turtle and his family tried to find shelter, but everything was blowing around and there wasn't anywhere for Trevor and his family to go. Eventually the wind was blowing so hard that all the turtles were separated. Trevor didn't know what to do. He was so scared and all alone, but he kept moving and eventually he saw a giant rock. Trevor decided to hide from the wind and wait for his family by this rock.
Trevor awoke the next morning to find the sun shining brightly. He felt so happy to see a beautiful day, but all of a sudden he realized that he was still all alone. Trevor went looking for his family on the beach, but couldn't find any of them. The only other animal left on the beach was an old crab that had always been mean to Trevor, but he asked the crab if he had seen his family and the old crab replied, "I think they all blew away." Trevor waited on the beach many days for his family, but his home was ruined and there was a shortage of food. Trevor decided to be very brave and go looking for a new home. He went to ask the old crab if he would want to join him, since they wouldn't be able to survive on the beach. The old crab just laughed and said "You can try to swim away, but you will never make it because you are too weak and too small, but go ahead and try!" Trevor thought about what the old crab had said and realized that he was very small and might not make it, but he wouldn't be able to survive here either so he jumped into the water and started to swim.
Trevor had big hopes of still reuniting with his family. He kept telling himself they were still alive somewhere, and he was determined to find them. He kept dreaming about how wonderful his new home would be and continued swimming for days and days. Trevor was growing very tired and very weak and knew he wouldn't be able to go on much longer. He prayed that he would see land soon. The Lord heard Trevor's prayer and made a square of land appear right in front of him. The land was just big enough for Trevor to lay down, and there was some food there for him to eat, but he was so tired that all he could do was lay on the solid ground. He fell asleep and never moved from this spot. The food that was in front of him started to grow over time into a nice green forest. Many other creatures came to rest on top of Trevor, when they were getting tired of swimming. Some rested for a little while and moved on, and others stayed and lived on top of Trevor.
Trevor's body had become an island and a home to many creatures. It is now the home for some of Trevor's brothers and sisters that were also searching for land after the awful wind storm. Trevor's family lives here on top of Trevor and they are all together again. They enjoy sunbathing, swimming, eating the yummy food, and being together as a family.
