This course focuses on effective approaches to teaching such concepts as laws of motion, scientific theories of the origin of the solar system, the interpretation of scientific data, and critical thinking about evidence in support of decision making. The Institute will draw upon the substantial scientific expertise of faculty at Michigan Technological University, utilizing its laboratory, classroom facilities, and computing capabilities; and upon the experience and insights of the participants and their understanding of the learning needs and skills of K-12 students. </FONT></div> <bR> <div style="margin-top:3px; "><FONT SIZE="3" COLOR="#000000" FACE="Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif">Cost: $2400, covers tuition, lodging, meals, and instructional materials for<br> the full week. Fellowships: Michigan teachers are eligible for fellowships<br> from the Michigan Improving Teacher Quality Grant Program, which<br> cover all Institute fees for Michigan teachers except for a registration fee<br> of $400.</FONT></div> </td> </tr></table></body>
