Student Requirements
Admitted students should have an undergraduate degree with a strong
academic record in any field of science or engineering. Admission
is based on the candidate's undergraduate record, letters of recommendation,
and statement of purpose. Previous teaching experience or certification
is not required; however, experience in working with secondary
school students as a tutor, community volunteer, or other capacity
is desirable. Students are expected to be full-time students for
the duration of their enrollment in the program.
Applicants
must be US citizens. Students apply to the program through the standard
admission process of the Department of Education. In addition to
the basic materials, the application should include a letter indicating
an interest in the Peace Corps, and a statement explaining the
benefits the applicant will bring to the Peace Corps and how the experience
will benefit their future career. Applications will be reviewed
in spring and successful applicants will be notified by May
15th. Students should plan on enrolling at the start of fall term
(late August).
