Who are the Program Directors?

Dr. Brad Baltensperger

Bradley Baltensperger - Program Coordinator

Professor and chair of the Department of Education, which is responsible for undergraduate secondary teacher education programs in science, mathematics, computer science, technology, social studies, English, business, and economics. The department certifies approximately 35 teachers each year, primarily in the sciences. He is also director of the MS program in Applied Science Education, which enrolls 25 in-service teachers. Dr. Baltensperger has also been PI on a number of projects which provide teacher professional development in science, mathematics, and social studies, with funding provided by Michigan Virtual University and Michigan Department of Education. Much of his professional training is as a geography teacher—he is coordinator for (and one of 6 instructors of) "World Cultures," a course required of all Michigan Tech freshman (enrollment of about 1400 students per year).

Dr. Sarah Green

Sarah A. Green - Assistant Program Coordinator

Associate Professor and chair of the Department of Chemistry. The department offers undergraduate and graduate (MS and PhD) degrees in chemistry, including an undergraduate specialization in Chemical Education. The department recognized a need for students to be exposed to global issues, either through direct exchange programs, or through the opportunity for students to interact with international students and Peace Corps volunteers.
