Explore the northwoods in winter! This course offers K-12 teachers a hands-on exploration of ecology in winter with guidance for incorporating winter ecology into classroom teaching. The majority of the course will be spent outdoors, so emphasis is placed on appropriate dress and preparation. The course content is designed to explore the unique issues of survival in winter, including challenging environmental conditions, plant and animal adaptations to winter, and how organisms interact with their winter environment. Special attention will be given to outdoor activities in a variety of winter habitats integrated with effective classroom teaching. 1 cr. ED 5640 optional
